Welfare
We are aware of the pressures UNISON members face on a daily
basis and can provide support at times of unforeseen financial hardship or personal difficulty such as
redundancy, bereavement, illness or relationship breakdown.
We support members in a variety of ways mainly through confidential advice and financial assistance in the form of
grants. For example we can help with sorting out finances, advise on benefits or put members in touch with another
organisation that can help. Welfare advice is provided by the Central Sussex Hospitals Branch's own
Welfare Officer, Marilyn Saward. All enquires are handled in complete

Welcome to UNISON Central Sussex Hospitals Branch.
UNISON is the trade union for all staff working for Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, associated contractors (such as ISS Mediclean and Sodexho), and other healthcare providers in the central sussex area (Nursing homes, care homes and independant healthcare establishments). We represent nursing, ancillary, professional, technical, managerial, administrative and clerical staff at all levels. UNISON also holds the majority of officership positions on national negotiating bodies and is the leading union of local level in the NHS.
We are here to help you with work-related
problems such as grievances and disciplinaries. We can also offer you advice on
conditions of service, bullying and violence at work, financial hardship. The
list is endless. There are representatives working in your area and you can find
details of how to contact them on this website.
UNISON is the largest trade union within BSUH NHS Trust and as a member you are
also entitled to many benefits including free legal advice, low cost insurance,
UNISON's own holiday club, etc. You will find more details of these and the many

An Annual General Meeting is a rulebook requirement of each branch. For 2009 the AGM for UNISON Central Sussex Hospitals Branch will be held on Thursday 19th March from 5pm in the Euan Keats Postgraduate Education Centre at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath. The AGM will be an interesting and enjoyable get together. As well as dealing with elections it will be an opportunity to find out more about what the branch has been doing over the last year and to make plans for the coming year. There will also be plenty of time to discuss issues that concern members. The meeting itself will commence at 6pm, but from 5 pm there will be a hot buffet available, with wine and soft drinks. All members are warmly invited to this. Information will be available on a range of membership benefits and there will be a free prize draw. Watch this space for further details, including guest speakers. The branch is keen that all members should be able to attend the AGM. Non-members are welcome to attend for the buffet and meeting, but will not be eligible to vote. For more information and documentation see here
