Recruit a friend to UNISON and earn yourself £10 in vouchers.

There is a direct link between bargaining power and membership density.  There are over 1.3 million members in UNISON and another 1 million non-members in our major employers.  Many of these have never been asked to join.

In a perfect world every potential member would be approached by a UNISON rep on their first day of work and invited to join UNISON.

According to the latest TUC research, 56% of potential members say they have never been asked to join.

In other words, we could boost our membership immediately simply by approaching potential members in our places of work: 10% of potential members say they would be "very likely" to join if asked and another 26% say they would be "quite likely" to join.

More than a third of potential members could be recruited without much effort.

Therefore the branch committee has agreed that the "Recruit a Friend" initiative is the ideal incentive to get existing members to approach their workplace colleagues.

The scheme works by the existing member filling in a form and handing it, along with an application form, to the potential member.  If the person subsequently joins the recruiter will receive a £10 High Street Voucher.  One voucher will be issued per member recruited. Terms and conditions apply.
