If you
need help and are a member of UNISON, then you should first of all
talk to your local representative. Otherwise contact the branch
office. As the office is not manned on a regular basis, e-mail
contact is preferred. You can also call our national helpline,
UNISONdirect, on 0845 355 0845.
Lines
are open from 6am to midnight on Monday to Friday and from 9 am till
4pm on Saturday. There is also a textphone number for members with
hearing difficulties - 0800 0 967 968.
Welfare
We are
aware of the pressures UNISON members face on a daily basis and can
provide support at times of unforeseen financial hardship or personal
difficulty such as redundancy, bereavement, illness or relationship
breakdown.
We support
members in a variety of ways mainly through confidential advice and
financial assistance in the form of grants. For example we can help with
sorting out finances, advise on benefits or put members in touch with
another organisation that can help.
Welfare
advice is provided by the Central Sussex Hospitals Branch's own Welfare
Officer, Marilyn Saward. All enquires are handled in complete confidence
and with sensitivity.
Find out
more about how Marilyn can help members by visiting the Welfare section
of this site, or e-mail her on

UNISON has joined forces with Lealta Benefits, the market
leading benefits provider, to enhance its shopping club, in doing so offering
you a huge range of tangible benefits and discounts. The UNISON Discount Card is
your passport to a world of great savings! You can use your card to take
advantage of benefits at a huge range of shops, online retailers and service
providers. Discounts are redeemed in different ways - these include quoting a
special code, printing off a coupon, buying vouchers or presenting the card.
Lealta are focussed on providing discounts and exclusive benefits not available
to the general public.
In the next couple of months we'll be rolling out this new benefit to members
to provide each with their own branded UNISON Benefits Card, which is the key to
a wide range of offers, both locally and across the UK & Southern Ireland. The
benefits are focused primarily on offers and discounts on retail products and
services, for example restaurants, clothing, leisure activities, beauty salons,
gyms and much, much more. There's a wide range of offers with major retailers
and providers, but there's also a rapidly growing network of thousands of
independent retailers offering deals, usually a minimum of 10% and all those
local companies will give you the discount just for showing your Benefits Card.
Discounts are available with instantly recognisable high street names and
local retailers: Boots, M&S, Thorntons, Halfords, Comet... but perhaps you'd
like to enjoy discounts at that nice new restaurant round the corner but they
are not listed on the scheme? Simply call the helpline and they'll do their best
to bring them on board - what ever it may be, the discount card will save you
money.
Come along to the AGM on Tuesday 9th March to be one of the first to
get hold of one of these cards.
